At 36 Leadenhall Street, London, the 1st and 3rd floors were being fitted out to a Category A+ standard, ready for clients moving in. Working alongside Hunter Taylor, office fit-out and refurbishment contractors, we supplied a circular rug for each floor to anchor the soft seating areas and give each space its own character.
With a neutral stone-effect floor running through both floors, the brief was for a rug on each that would define a breakout zone and bring colour and texture to the scheme. We specified a 2400mm diameter circle for each, large enough to hold a full seating group and coffee table, and a shape that softens the straight lines of the grid ceiling, window bands and floor tiles.
Coral and Berber were chosen for their contrasting characters, so the two floors would feel individual, not repeated. Coral brings a soft, flowing contour pattern, and Berber a bold, graphic geometric.
1st Floor: The rug sits at the heart of an informal meeting area. Cream armchairs and a sofa sit around a pale sage coffee table, with oak and sage green shelving and planting beside them. Shell Beige keeps the palette calm and natural, and the contour pattern adds depth and texture underfoot without pulling attention from the furniture.
3rd Floor: The rug anchors a breakout lounge built around a large, sweeping curved sofa in golden ochre. Erg picks up that tone and sets it against cream, giving the area warmth and energy against the pale floor. The soft edge of the circle echoes the curve of the seating, so the two read as one deliberate composition.
On a Cat A+ project the space has to feel complete on arrival. The rugs act as functional zoning tools, separating the soft seating from the open floor, so the clients arrive to spaces that feel considered and ready to use.
